St. Cecilia is here!

We went by today to check out the tile work and got a great surprise--the granite is in!  St. Cecilia has many variations, so it was a relief to see a darker tone that provides a good contrast with our glazed cabinets.  Whew!

The tile in the master bath has been grouted and the durango shelves were moved.  I'm really happy with how it turned out.  In the hall bath, they removed the white tile floor and prepped for the new tile.  The shower has been grouted.  Everything is looking really nice!

It's hard to see due to the lack of contrast, but trust me--it looks great!

They also installed the vinyl in the laundry room and sanded the floors throughout the house.  One step closer to wood floors & carpet!

They also blew in the rest of the attic insulation.  We're now at R49, which will be great for the energy bills!

  2. You are right! The St. Cecilia comes in three distinct variations (light, medium, and dark). I ended up with the medium and love the contrast for both the espresso and butterscotch. It looks like you have the darker version and it looks very pretty. St. Cecilia is such a universal tile that it seems to work with all the cabinet choices. As I looked at your granite it gave me another idea about how to handle by backsplash.

Glad they fixed everything for you. How about the window?

    1. What's your idea? Are you thinking about granite-ing your backsplash? We had actually asked them to leave off the 4" backsplash because we want to do a tile backsplash. I think some of our last-minute special requests slipped through the cracks with PM being on vacation through the holidays. Now that it's there, I don't really mind it.

The window is still as-is. We should be getting our weekly PM update tomorrow and hopefully an answer to that question.

    2. I thought about it ONLY for the section near the kitchen sink (the part of the over hang into the morning room). But, see, that can be a problem too because the granite slab won't be the same. #stillthinking

I even envisioned all the accessories etc to see what it will work and I believe it can come together nicely. BUT it just hits me in the face every time I look at a picture. Honestly, sometimes I look at the picture I realize it's just missing the accessories. I have been down this road before where I thought I goofed and once I completed the project it looked wonderful. #ontosomething

Lastly, I LOVE LOVE LOVE THE IDEA that you sent to me in the email with just tiling over the original backsplash. They did a fantastic job. The backsplash is tight to the wall so I believe it could work. It would save us a ton of money.

    1. Thanks! I can't wait to see either. I'm sure you are chomping at the bit to get cabinets--I know I was ;).

  4. Thank you for posting this! We are building a Ravenna as well- I have chosen the same cabinets- can't wait to see how yours turn out. We didn't get St Cecilia, it wasn't a choice in my area. We have chosen Giallo Veneziano. Do you know what color is in your model home? I have looked everywhere and the color is not as widely available for Ryan Homes, apparently!

    1. Yes, the color in the model (with the Rushmore Maple/B-scotch glaze) is Giallo Veneziano and it looks great with those cabinets. If you'd like me to get a better picture of them with the granite let me know! I think most of my pics are at a distance.

  5. Oh my gosh, thank you so much for the response! I have been so worried about the granite, I couldn't find it with those cabinets in any pictures. I had wished I could order the St Cecilia just so I would KNOW what I was getting. But I do like these pictures, and if they have them in the model then I would assume they are a good choice. If you happen to go in the model again I would love more detailed pictures, but don't make a special trip just for me... only if you happen to go in for another reason. :) Again- THANK YOU!
    I'll be reading!
