Question for Ravenna owners...

If you have the upgraded owners bath, where do you hang your towel? RH installed the towel bar above the tub on the same wall as the vanity. That seems kind of far away...what's your solution?

I don't know if this is a problem unique to the Ravenna so if other people have run into this, I would like to hear what you have done as well.

Thanks!

  1. We have only been in the house since Tuesday and what a chore to reach for the bath towel and wash cloths. I am curious to know what others have done too. This is not isolated with Ravenna's. I am thinking about solutions--nothing yet.

    1. I have decided to use the towel bar for decorative towels only and continue to use my towel rack and cloth laundry basket organizer that hangs behind the door. I did not think I was taking them with us but I MUST! I purchased them in 2004 and they are wonderful.

    2. I did some research to give you an idea of what it looks like. The one I purchased years ago, I can't seem to find available but this is the closest to what I could find and it's a workable solution.

    3. They are sold on ebay.com Just do a search for over the door towel rack with laundry bag if the url does not work.

  2. In our former house, the towel bar was far from the vanity and shower. We used towel hooks to hold washcloths near the vanity, similar to this: http://www.faucetdepot.com/prod/Moen-YB2886ORB-Creative-Specialties-Eva-Towel-Ring---Oil-Rubbed-Bronze-17198.asp. I plan to get these again as we really liked having them right next to the vanity. As for the towels, I plan to install a robe hook on the wall between the shower and bathroom door to put a towel while showering. The rest of the time, they will remain on the towel bar. Currently, we have a small tower stand on our vanity that holds our washcloths.

    1. I like that Moen towel holder...very nice. Yes, I think a hook is the best solution...I guess it's a good problem to have :)

  3. I have thought about asking them to leave off the towel bar altogether so I can put up pretty towel hooks by the bath tub. I plan on doing one on each side of the vanity as well. I've seen some on Pinterest that look really pretty. I think two hooks by the door to the closet would work well for the shower- maybe stacked? I guess it depends on what side your door opens from and how much room is there. I don't know. I have to look at it again. I am glad you brought this up.

    1. If you are getting ORB fixtures, it will probably look nicer than the piece they installed in ours. It's also centered on the tub itself, not the tile surround, so it looks weird. I may ask them to realign it. Once towels are on it, it will probably look nicer too.

  4. I think the towel rack above the tub is for your pretty towels that you just showcase...not actually use.

    1. You're probably right. I guess sometimes I am more for function over form. :).

  5. The way Ryan builds a lot of their bathrooms too, there really isn't an obvious place for the towel rack to go by the shower. In most bathrooms the only free wall space is that wall beside the tub. Its a small complication though when you get a beautiful bathroom to walk into every day.

    1. You're right and it's not something I paid much attention to until I saw it. I am sure it will be the LAST thing on my mind when we actually move in ;)

  6. We have a Rome and the master towel bar location is ridiculous (the far end of the soaking tub), our powder room even more so because we asked them not to put it over the toilet, so they put it over the light switch instead... I'd like to install some directly on the door, though I don't know how well it would work since the doors are usually hollow. Also, I've seen suction cup hooks that may be useful if I can find some that aren't too tacky

Warning:Our towel racks are the dirt cheap square ones like you get for $5 at walmart, and the TP holders have white plastic cross pieces. I think this is fairly unique to our area since every picture I've seen on the blogs looks a lot better, but double check what you're getting if that would bother you.

  7. Get one of those over the door hooks- there are like, 3 hooks in a row, at target and hang it on the outside of your shower. That's what we do and it's perfect!

  8. Our towel bar was hung on that wall, but not centered over the tub. I keep the towels there for now and just grab and throw over the top of the door when I shower.
