And they're off!

The forms are off and the basement walls are ready for waterproofing.  It was nice to get there early enough to see it in the daylight!

  1. Nice pictures! Are those holes in the basement walls?

    1. No, it's the black waterproofing goo. I guess there were some areas along the seams that needed extra goo. They'll cover the rest of the walls in it next week.

  2. A few of us have collected some solid ideas to improve the build in various ways. I could drone on forever but will instead give you a link to one of my posts.

    1. Thanks, Sgt. Rich. :) We had seen your blog and mentioned the whole 2nd floor laundry issue to our PM. He said the joists in the laundry room are narrower to begin with, but we can take a look during construction and add cross-members if we still think they're needed. He also said that no one in our community has complained about it, but we have lived with the issue in another home so we are a little more sensitive to it!

  4. Let the framing begin--I would show up as much as possible doing the framing stage. It's so exciting!

How far are you from your current home to your new build?

    1. I know! I am hoping the framing starts the week after Thanksgiving. Maybe the PM will give us a better idea of the schedule on Friday.

We are about 45 minutes away from the future home, but we try to make it out there as much as possible.
