Wrapped up

It looks like they made a lot of progress today.  The roof is on (minus shingles) and the house is wrapped.  I wonder what surprises we'll find tomorrow!  Here are some pics of today's progress:

Standing a little taller today

The second floor is on with the exception of the front of the bonus room.  It looks like the roof is next.  We are looking forward to walking through the house next week!

Here are some pictures of the progress.  In the time it took to snap pictures around the perimeter of the house, they put the second window in to the left of the front door.  Talk about speedy!

Ravenna Rising

We went by today and finally got to see some walls going up!  What a glorious sight.  We are soaking it in today because tomorrow the place will probably be soaked.  They're calling for rain/snow all day tomorrow, so I'm pretty sure this is all we're going to get until Wednesday.  That's okay...this was enough to keep me happy for a few days.  In other good news, Guardian called to schedule our pre-wire meeting for next week.  :-)

Pics of the progress at about 10:15 this morning...

No framing today

As I suspected would be the case, there was no work going on at our lot today. So, I guess framing is delayed until tomorrow or, more likely, Monday. Oh well, I guess it's better for them to start when they're well-rested and not wishing they were at home.

We did get some pics of the basement floor when we visited a couple of nights ago. Here's hoping that my next post will have pictures of wood that is vertical.

Slabs

The slabs were poured today.  That's the last step before framing begins on Friday (fingers crossed)!  We couldn't get close enough to see inside the basement, but we got some pics of the garage floor in progress.

House Wrap

Depending on where you live, you may get house wrap that looks like one of those emergency space blankets.  I got to see the package up close tonight, so here's more info if you are wondering what it is:  http://www.low-e.com/products/products_view.php?Product=Low-E%20Housewrap.

The wood has arrived!

It's funny what happens when you stay away for a couple of days...all kinds of progress!  We pulled up today to find the first load of lumber had been delivered, the foundation had been backfilled, and they were prepping the basement floors for concrete.  Exciting stuff!

The lumber is here...let the framing begin!

Backfilled!

That white bag in the middle of the picture appeared
to contain the instructions for putting the house together.

Irish Thistle

Irish Thistle (IT) is a relatively new siding color choice in our neighborhood, so I hadn't seen it in person until we visited another model home.  We have already chosen Stone Mountain Clay, but I figured I would post the pics below in case anyone is interested in how IT looks on a house.  The sun was shining right on it, so it's a little washed out.  It looked a little more green up close.

Irish Thistle is on the garage side.

Man at work

When we pulled up to the lot on Saturday, we saw the backhoe/bulldozer/excavator at work.  I got excited thinking they had decided to backfill early, but I think he was just pushing dirt around and pouring gravel near the front door.  Not very exciting stuff, but hey--it's progress!

Okay...that's enough of those pictures.  Everyone loves a good piece of heavy machinery, but we all have our limits.

On another topic, as I was looking through our photos, I realized there is a lot of shade from the trees behind the house. I like a lot of natural light, so I'm kind of bummed about that.  It wasn't something I even thought of while we were looking to buy.  Oh well...hopefully once the house grows up, we'll get a better idea of our sunshine potential.

Framing is scheduled

Guardian contacted us yesterday to let us know our home was put on the pre-wire list for December.  That was definitely nice to hear!  We went back tonight and saw the drain tile was in and had been inspected.  We had our second PM update today.  He said they'll backfill on Monday and prep the slabs on Monday and Tuesday.    The slabs will be poured on Wednesday and framing should begin Friday.  I'm not going to hold my breath for the framing to happen the day after Thanksgiving, but who knows?  I can't wait to see the house take shape above ground!

Waterproofed

Looks like things are moving along as planned for this week.  The waterproofing is finished and it looks like plumbing will begin soon.  :)  Hopefully we'll get an estimate on when framing will begin when we hear from the PM tomorrow.

Found our model

We don't have any progress to report this week so far.  We had a lot of rain and sleet yesterday morning.  I am guessing that's why the waterproofing was not done as planned. :)

Good news, though--we found a decorated Ravenna model that is a reverse floor plan with the bonus room.  It was great to walk through a home that will be laid out just like ours!  It also helped us with furniture placement ideas, etc.  Model pics are posted on the "Model Pics - Reverse" tab.

And they're off!

The forms are off and the basement walls are ready for waterproofing.  It was nice to get there early enough to see it in the daylight!

Beginnings of a basement

The forms are in and now the fun will begin!  It was great to see the future basement walls and get an idea of what our views will be like from the morning room and family room.  Loving the progress!

Footers are in

We were excited to see footers when we visited last night! The PM called today to give us our first Friday update and said the forms for the basement walls are in place. Next week they will do the waterproofing, drain tiles, and plumbing. The following week, he expects the lot will be backfilled and basement floors put in. I think I'll borrow an idea from some other RH bloggers and create a timeline page to keep track.

It's getting tougher to get good pictures now that the sun is setting at 5:00 pm!

There's a hole in the ground

It looks like things are moving right along!  That bulldozer (?) on the right is making its way out of our future basement.
